Letter to the Editor

First Lady
Hillary Rodham Clinton
The White House
Washington, D.C.

Dear Mrs. Clinton,

We are pleased to hear that Mrs. Sarah Netanyahu gave you a copy of a video tape in which Arab Palestinian children, in a Sesame Street-style program called The Children's Club, extol the virtues of becoming suicide bombers in the name of jihad. We are sure you were as appalled as we were by the site of children as young as six being abused in such a manner.

We also hope Mrs. Netanyahu has shared her concern at material taught in Palestinian schools. Their textbooks are replete with with examples of incitement to violence and hatred. Here are just a few excerpts:
Determine the subject and predicate in the following sentences: (5th grade Arabic Language textbook)
            "Jerusalem is Arab"
"Jihad is the religious duty of every Moslem, man & woman."
Use the following expressions in one sentence :
"wisdom," "Zionist danger," "called for Jihad," "tragedy"
Comprehension...(5th grade...)
"Why must we fight the Jews and drive them out of our land?" The map depicting "our land" shows no trace of Israel.

In reviewing the main points that we agreed upon in the Wye Plantation Agreement we noted the blatant absence of any mention of the future education of Arab Palestinian children. There was no mention of any of the above outrages nor any commitments for change in the future.

As a caring and concerned mother, and as a celebrated advocate of children's rights, we know how much value you place on education. Surely you will agree that there is no room for teaching hatred and violence if the Arab Palestinians are intent on rearing a new generation of peace loving children who will grow up to be proponents of co-existence with their Jewish Israeli neighbors.

"People think that using children to sew Nike sneakers in Nicaragua is child abuse ... real child abuse is the indoctrination of a young child to kill and hate ... to become a suicide bomber," said former forensic Psychiatrist Emmanuel Tandy, of Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, in a recent meeting of M.A.T.C.K.H. "Such a child is scarred for life and will most likely react to all future frustration with similar violence."

As First Lady of the U.S.A., (the country that has chosen to be a partner of Peace in the Middle East) we urge that you use your position to apply the necessary moral pressure to halt such detrimental education programs immediately. (Especially since we understand the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation is funded with American tax dollars).

While you are right that "it takes a Village" to raise a child it surely requires that the leaders of the village to set the tone. We urge that you use your friendship with Mrs. Arafat and with Queen Noor of Jordan to point out the harm that such indoctrination can have on the mind of a developing child, and urge them to use their influence to make drastic changes in the Arab Palestinian education and television systems.

In a letter dated October 1, 1998, Governor John Engler of Michigan, thanked our organization - M.A.T.C.K.H. - Mothers Against teaching Children to Kill and Hate, "for helping to safeguard the future of Arab Palestinian children." Of course, by stopping this indoctrination of Arab children, we will not only be safeguarding their future and those of neighboring Israelis, but also of our own country, which has already become the target of violent attacks in the name of Jihad.

Please Ms, Clinton, join our bandwagon and help us in this awesome task. Help us stop the teaching of violence and hatred, and you will certainly merit G-d's bountiful blessing in recompense.
