FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do you call the organization MATCKH, "Mothers against Teaching Children to Kill and Hate"?
Shouldn't it be "Mothers against Teaching Children to Hate and Kill"?
|
|
The name of MATCKH is similar to the successful movement
MADD... Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. You are very observant to notice we list "hate" after "kill", Why? As outrageous as it sounds, children are being taught to kill before they even have the opportunity to decide whether in truth they really do hate the individual victim! How can you really hate somebody you never met or a hate group of people milling in a mall or riding a bus ? In the process of blowing oneself up, one inadvertently kills people, innocent people, whom one does not necessarily hate and had no intention of killing! The fact that the concept of child martyrdom is promoted is another proof that in this case, "kill" comes before "hate".

There are so many issues... boundaries, settlements, refugees, water, economics, the peace talks, etc. There are other issues besides Israel . global warming, the deterioration of the family, etc.
Aren't you over simplifying things?
|
|
Our aim has always been to stay very focused on one issue only...children. That is why we have steered clear of many issues that we feel very strongly about but that I feel would take away from our one-track mission.. peace begins with children . As mothers & grandmothers we at MATCKH
advocate to save the lives of children.
The fundamental problem is that children are taught to hate and kill. As long as you have an abundance of termites in the basement there is no sense building another floor or patio to the house. Striving for peace without changing the attitudes of children is like constructing another floor above a termite ridden
foundation! It is vanity, foolish. On a micro level, when feuding neighboring families decide to make peace, they instruct their offspring to refrain from shooting stones ( unless you have a particular reason for shooting stones), name calling and violence.
It is true there can be no peace without security. There can be no security while children are brainwashed to kill and hate. No one is safe unless everyone is safe. That, plain and simple, is the bottom line.
And if people feel safe in the US because it is only happening out there in the Middle East they are in for a big surprise...the world has become a small village & these children will be visiting their cousins in Detroit or Brooklyn & end up blowing themselves up in our own home
turf. Just as they did in the bombing of the world Trade Center in New York.
There are many excellent causes in the world but one person cannot address all of them. As long as
genocide is taught to children, it is not the time to discuss land for peace or any of these other topics. Peace begins with children.
The foundation for any peace agreement has to start with the education of children.

Would anybody ever seriously listen to the voice of a kid? Why make quilts?

Children can make a great difference! Historically, Jewish children have been activists. The Midrash says G-d accepted the CHILDREN as guarantors of the Torah at Sinai. Avraham was only 3 years old when he destroyed his father's idols and began to teach monotheism! Years later, when Haman decreed death for Jews living in Persia, Mordechai took 23,000 children to fast and pray for G-d's mercy. As you know, the Jewish people were saved! Even more recently, the activism of a 12 year old Craig Kielburger from Canada called attention internationally to abusive labor practices in Asian developing countries! He had an effect on legislation in Canada pertaining to the import of products produced by child labor from the Far East. A networks shelter for the homeless spread to nationwide proportions because of the compassion and advocacy of Trevor Ferris, a 16 year old Philadelphian.

Don't Israelis hate too?
|
|
There is a huge difference between what is happening with Israelis and the Arab Palestinians. The hatred and violence of the Arab Palestinians against the Israelis is sanctioned by their rulers, by their educational system, by their religious system and their media. This is NOT true of Israel. See the letter by former Israeli Minister
of Education Yossi Sarid... in REACTIONS TO MATCKH. He is very much a "dove" and he admits Israeli texts do not teach this incitement.
None of this assumes that Jews never hate or never get violent. In every nation there are fanatics. In every nation there are mentally unstable individuals. Fanaticism, hatred, and violence are not officially sanctioned, however, by Israel's institutions. Israel and Judaism promote ways of peace. It must also be stressed that there is a huge difference between reacting in self defense and between trying to exterminate a nation.

Why bother? Nothing will ever change.
|
|
We do not know that. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Light one match and the darkness recedes.
Save ONE life and it is as if you saved the universe.
There is a compassionate G-d that rules the world. We are not in ultimate control of events. In Pirke Avot, our sages teach
"It is not up to me to finish the job but neither am I free to avoid it"
.
For the sake of our own souls we must cry out to G-d for compassion on the suffering when we see evil. We must cry out to the world when we see injustice . We must work for Tikun Olam, perfecting of the world. If we are only for ourselves, then who are we?
If, after all our efforts, it doesn't change then it is our duty to disclose this travesty, to alert the world and its
peacekeeping organizations. Why? We must expose the evil if only in order to prevent somebody in the future from saying "if only I have known I would have done something about it". The holocaust was not very long ago. It could happen again if people remain complacent to evil.
No one should be entitled to bring up the notion of any peace negotiations unless this evil and vile curriculum is eliminated and replaced by one promoting tolerance, respect and coexistence.

There are so many Arab Palestinian children being killed by Israeli soldiers. Why not cry out for them ?
|
|
We do! We are pro child rights, pro human rights! MATCKH is definitely against child sacrifice! We are definitely against child abuse! It is the responsibility of those poor children's parents to keep them home, out of the way of harm. ( Instead, we hear Arab Palestinian parents saying they wish they had more children to give their lives for the cause! We see Arab Palestinian children being used as human shields while raging crowds of their elders attack a small number of Israeli soldiers or civilians.) It is the responsibility of the Arab Palestinian institutions to teach tolerance, not hate so those young minds are not poisoned with violence .
DOCS, Doctors Opposed to Child Sacrifice, an organization of some 300 pediatricians, has called this kind of education a "form of societal child abuse"
In the US, homes are rightly investigated by Child Protective services for the possibility of causing children to live in mouse infected squalor. In the US, raising children as the Palestinians are raised would be considered extremely abusive.
Legal action should be taken swiftly against parents who promote such evil and place their children in danger.
